Character Descriptions:

Ella Peterson (Alto/Mezzo)- Pretty, say in her late 20s, 30s. Vivacious, bubbly, inventive, concerned. Must be able to comfortably slip into various “voices”, such as “Mom”, “Brando”, and “Santa”. Her ability to mimic will be key. She must be lovable, likable, and a bit of a force of nature.

Jeffery Moss (Baritone)- Handsome mature man, in his 30s-40s. Must be likable and somehow make is failings charming. This actor must be able to sing well especially romantic pieces. He is a crooner.

Sandor Prantz (Tenor)-Character role, 40s-60s. Slimy, oily, possessed of a kind of put-on charm, but just below the surface a snake who uses innocent people. A bit of comedic timing a must.

Sue Summers (Mezzo/Soprano)-  A character type, maybe 10 years older than Ella, in the same family (her cousin). Nervous, officious, but a softie at heart.

Gwynne Smith (Mezzo/ Mainly Spoken)- 30's Works with Ella and Sue. A curvy and well liked woman. Can double in ensemble.

Carl (Tenor)- Young Adult, early to mid 20's. Wholesome delivery boy who frequents Susanwerphone. This is a dancing role in addition to singing

Larry Hastings (Spoken)- Big producer type, anywhere from 30-60, non-singing role. A bit humorless, a bit of a shark.

Francis (Spoken)- Barnes’ assistant, in his late 20s. Sweet in nature, practical and prefers to see the positive side of people.

Dr. Kitchell (Spoken)- Anywhere from age 25-60. Neurotic dentist who composes songs off the sound of his drill…while drilling. A bit crazy and filled with endless bad melodies and terrible song ideas.

Inspector Barnes (Spoken)- 30s-50s. Crotchety, erratic, volatile, over-emotional, overly-imaginative police detective who sees crime everywhere. Everyone’s a perpetrator to him and he is a bit overzealous and wants to catch a big criminal.

Night Club Singer (Tenor) Sings Midas Touch- Age range pretty open about 20's-30's Overly-dynamic and a showman

Barton (Spoken)- Young Brando acting type, but thinner, smaller, not as manly, doomed to fail if he sticks to this image. Non-singing, though could double in the ensemble
